Page templates

Pasikrata comes with 6 page templates. Page template is a set  of “characteristics” you can assign to a page to make it look in a specific, theme defined way. We have:

Default template – empty page which you need to populate with your content

Blog – list blog layout – read more about blog and settings below

Blog masonry – masonry blog layout – read more about blog masonry and settings below

Contact – contact layout – read more about contact and settings below

Portfolio – portfolio layout – read more about portfolio and settings below

Shoopbook – shoopbook layout – read more about shoopbook and settings below

By default your homepage is set to post page – it means it lists all your posts from all categories – this is how WordPress works. If you would like to have different page / or apply different look to your homepage you need to follow these steps:

  1. Create new page Pages -> New and apply page template ie. Blog Masonry
  2. Go to Settings -> Reading – > Front page displays -> Static page -> Choose your page here

Blog (s) & post(s)

There are two blog templates in Pasikrata. Blog and Blog masonry. Both of them display posts from categories but have different layout (look/design).

To create blog you need to create Page -> New page ie. blog and apply desired page template ie. Blog masonry. Once that is done you need to have categories Posts -> Categories -> Add and posts themselves Posts -> Add new, you assign post to a chosen category otherwise they will be in “uncategorized”.

Go to Theme Options -> Blog / Blog masonry to adjust some basic settings, the rest of the settings can be found in the metaboxes at the bottom of your blog page(s). Where you can:

  • Choose Blog categories
  • Turn on / off blog intro
  • Select Sidebar
  • Upload Featured image

Blog templates once again – Blog uses “read more” tag which is available from your TinyMCE toolbox, you can place it anywhere within the content to limit what displays in the blog view. So we do not force you to have a 50 words excerpt or no excerpt at all, you define how it look yourself, when creating each posts you decide where to put “read more” tag yourself. You do not have to use it all all, this way post will be presented in full in the list view. On the other hand Blog masonry does not have excerpt at all. It it up to you what you use.

There are some predefined sidebars Appearance -> Widgets ie. Post sidebar but these are just for your convenience and does not have to be used as the name implies. Also you can create unlimited number of sidebars  Appearance -> Widgets -> Custom widget area

Sidebars can be freely chosen from as long as there is an options to do so, ie. footer areas are predefines and cannot be replace/adjusted but page sidebars can be changed accordingly.

Widgets are “things”that can be places in the sidebar (widgetized area). Each widget has its own function. There are built in (WordPress provided) widgets we are not going to explain, you can learn more about theme here. And there are also Pasikrata specific widgets offering some additional functions:

Instagram feed – there is no specific widget for that but we use Text widget and generator for that purpose.

Shoopbook / Affiliate

Shopbook is our exclusive feature that lets you create, group, promote and manage products with affiliate links.

Shopbook consists of Items, Categories and Collections:

You can have items only, and not necessarily categories and collections and so on. This fairly concept is quite powerful, with some settings we provide is very useful and configurable too.

Item – is the smallest unit of the shoopbook, it is listed on the page with Shopbook template assigned to ti. There are specific settings to it Theme Options -> Shopbook

Category – can be used to bundle items together, and also used to display them within the shopbook page. Category with “show product name from” setting can be used as a title for items that are within this category, you can thing of it as bran = category.

Collection – collection lets you create a group of items that a) are a part of collection post format and b) used with shortcode to be place anywhere within a post or a page. Additionally there are some theme predefined places where you can choose which collection to be displayed ie. product widget or single posts.

Post formats

Post format it the same to post as page template to a page (confused). Nevertheless, post formats adds a specific look to your otherwise standard post, provide some additional content ie. video or gallery.

Pasikrata supports 5 formats. Each beautiful 😀

Standard – basic look, standard post

Gallery – present your gallery in a masonry layout with touch enabled lightbox

Video – links your featured image to youtube video you linked it to

Collection – presents collection in your blog

Quote – lets you place some text over the featured image

Create page Pages -> Add new and assign Portfolio template to it. Add portfolio categories if required Portfolio -> Portfolio categories

Start adding portfolio items Portfolio -> Add portfolio item , each item can have a gallery or/and content and additional media bellow the portfolio gallery

There are some general portfolio settings in Theme Options -> Portfolio, additionally there is one more specific settings at the bottom of the portfolio page – portfolio categories, if left empty will use all categories or all portfolio items

To create about page create Page -> New page and assign Contact template to it.Next fill in the Page content with ie. texts and photo(s) like we did in our demo. Save/Publish. Turn on and choose sidebar ie. Contact sidebar Next, go to Appearance -> Widgets and populate Contact sidebar with widgets you want to use (in case of our demo, it is About widget and Social widget).

Leaving page content empty or not choosing Sidebar will make the content appear in the center.

Links within Text widget are constructed as follows:

<a href=””>Text to display</a>

Pasikrata is built with SEO in mind. We know how crucial it is. By default it generate all the SEO from the page / post content. We recommend to go to Theme options -> SEO settings & social and fill the details there.

Additionally you have options to fill in the meta fro each page individually. Uploading featured images for pages is also a good idea as it will be used when sharing to social media ie. Facebook, Pinterest etc.

If you plan on using 3rd party plugin for SEO simply turn off Enable built in meta tags to avoid conflicts.
